I've got something a little bit different this week for #NatureMakesMondays. This one will be a bit of a work in progress for a while as your little ones wait for the grass to grow but its a simple and easy way to explore seeds and gardening, especially if you are short of outside space.
Grab a used plastic bottle and cut the bottom off. Fill with compost and scatter grass seeds on top. Then, leave in a sunny spot and water daily. The grass should start growing in a few days and should be nice and long within a couple of weeks.
We decorated our pot with googly eyes and a bottle top nose and will be having a go at hair cutting with some toddler friendly scissors. Ave loves anything to do with plants and flowers so this one has been a big hit. She happily waters the grass each day with a little pot of water which is helping to develop the concept of responsibility.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN PICKING AND HANDLING UNKNOWN NATURAL MATERIALS. SUPERVISE CHILDREN TO ENSURE NOTHING IS EATEN AND WASH YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED.
Happy growing everyone!
